Christmas greetings from Wycliffe - please read!

This is a Christmas greeting of enormous gratitude from Wycliffe, the orphans care taker. Wycliffe's a pastor and as such he does express a very big thank you this year. For them their faith is great and important, thus Christmas is a big holiday. For them being able to celebrate the birth of Jesus having food and also some candy is a big event. We at Agaptivity are happy for being able, at the very last minute, thanks to new contributors, to help out giving them this opportunity. A big thank you for that, and also a big thank you to all of you have been with us this year giving your support.

They are so greatful that even though they are out of food again they feel so strengthened that they will go through with it till we can help them again.

One of the best Christmas mas ever that orphans enjoyed was this of 2015. With support from Agaptivity donors we were able to feed all orphans with delicious meals of chicken, meat, ugali, rice and juices and candies. Thanks to Ted and myself together with staffs of Agaptivity that this was successfulful! We commemorated and remembered the Christ birth in our hearts. Because we have agenda to be grateful of that no child died of hunger or sickness but this year was a challenge. We were able to address basic needs of these orphans through genouros donations and support from people and friends with a big and huge heart and with love to lay their lives for the parentless children as their own. With food, water, sanitary, pads, toiletries, encouragements and smiles that we in Kisumu, Kenya had a reason of hope, determination and endurance. Ted, May God continue strengthen you and add you abundantly. The Governent of Kenya is back to work from 27th Dec 2015 and have cancelled long holiday with exceptional only on 1st new year and so banks and other offices will be open from tommorrow 27th. We take this early opportunity to wish everyone a happy new year 2016. Keep the good effort, support the orphans together with us. We might runout of food from today but streangths and believe and the values jeep us strong. Thanks.
We enter into another year scalling up of development and bring a difference and healthy orphans with a bright future.
On 4th schools will be open for another tearm after holidays. We pray and trust that we shall get writting and reading education materials, uniforms, transport back to school, basic medical treatment for minor ailments and child sponsored parents through Agaptivity.
Long live Agaptivity!
At my family lever it was a year that God brought a smile with blessing to us by giving us (mini)Maria. [Their newborn daughter being named after Teds wife]
t was a moment that God took me to places from the village to centers from towns to cities and from being a local to opportunity to see and meet Ted when i traveled to Finland.
Even though it was a sad year of burring 6 of  lical church members nut it wad a year that God used me to bring people to Him through teachings and preaching the Gospel of Lord Jesus Christ by grace.

2 plus eventually 12 makes 2 weeks

Tomorrow's the last day the banks have open in Kisumu Kenya. Then they will be closed till the begninning of January.

Tomorrow's the last day for Agaptivity to send money so that the orphans will have food over the holidays, Christmas and New Year.

Today Agaptivity have no means available.

Today the orphans are in on their second day without food.

Tomorrow with your help we can make sure there will not be another 12 days without food.

Join in creating a Christmas miracle. Help Agaptivity help them.

There are three ways to send us money. Please check it out here:  http://agaptivity.org/support.html It all depends on where you live. Please notify us if you have sent some money at chairman@agaptivity.org

We hope for you aid and thank you in advance.

Would you like to join in creating a Christmas miracle?

Christmas is approaching. Only a few days left now. A few days to tearing up Christmas gifts and stuffing ourselves full of food.... "Full" the belly said.

There however those who will have to do with out food over the holidays. Maybe totally out food.

Yesterday I, Ted, got info that the banks in Kisumu will be shut from December 23rd to January 2nd. Since they are out of food now this mean we have two days to raise money so they will manage till after new year.

Thus, Agaptivity have only two days to get the money needed. Is it possible to raise 230 - 290 dollars? I believe so.

We believe and hope for any contribution, no matter its size. We believe and hope that both members can contribute a little extra aswell as getting new members and donors.

Let us create a miracle. You will find all info on how to contribute at: http://agaptivity.org/support.html

Thank you for your support.

What can you do with 27 cents?

One of Agaptivity's two mottos are 'Everybody can make a difference'. It is possible to make a difference. Really. When people get together it becomes obvious. The best way to visualize this is by using numbers. So, let us.

27 cents

27 cents. What could you do with that amount on an ordinary day? What if you save these 27 cent for a month (30 days). How much will you end up with? You'll end up with 8 dollars and 1 cent. What could you do with that money?

OK, for sure you can do something. You could keep on saving it, in a box at home or with interest at a bank. But would it effect you if you could look away from it, depart from it?

Thus - what can you do with 27 cents? What would it do for?

6.826 km / 4242 English miles

Let's travel. Let's travel 6.826 km, from Orebro Sweden where Agaptivity is located to Kisumu Kenya and ask the same question there. What can one do with 27 cents.

With 27 cents you can provide food and sanitary items for one person for a day. That means that you with $8.01 could do if for a whole month.

  • 27 cents is enough for food and sanitary items for one person for one day
  • $8,01 is enough for a whole month

    Life and death

Thanks to the members of Agaptivity, their contributions we have been able to help 73 orphans in Kisumu Kenya. It has however not been consistent or without problems. On the contrary they have at times for periods been without food. A while back they were without for seven days!

The inflow to Agaptivity is not consistent and not enough. That's a shame.

What we have been able to do have in many cases been the difference between life and death. Apart from food and we have been able to help out with hospital bills and costs for medicine when they have been subject to cholera, malaria and typhoid. We will be forever thankful for those who have contributed with donations. The donors have really saved the day.

    More members

It is our hope and goal to get more members. It is on the basis of memberships we can secure a steady inflow of money for helping the orphans. We do also aim for getting companies as sponsrors.

As we get more members and thus securing the most fundamental needs we can start aiming for bigger projects such as water purification, buildings, education and future and also projects that involves the community getting self sufficient. It is not an utopia but fully possible.

This blogpost is focused on membership. Why? Well, it is out a membership basis (and also sponsoring companies) that we can make calculations. Donations come and go and cannot be taken for granted. We see them as bonuses. Should it be the case that we get more donors, that they are recurrent with a recurrent amount then it is possible to add to a calculation, but not until then.

    What can you do?

What can you do? Well, we do not expect anything but we have high hopes. In order to become a member of Agaptivity $5 is the minimum monthly contribution. We need this limit due to members having influence in the organisation, having right to speak and vote. You can influence the workings of Agaptivity.

Our members pay anything from $5 to $58 per month, in average about $20 per month. That means that each of our members is helping about 2,5 individuals. A contribution of $8 per month would mean 1 person.

    Like and Do

Today we have 133 persons liking us on Facebook. Thank you all for doing that! We are only 11 members today. These 11 are among the 133. We know that all who like us on Facebook cannot help out, they simply don't have the means for it. However there are those who help out by sharing posts etc - thank you! We do believe that there are those among the 133 that could help out contributing. There are those who do through donations - thank you! But we believe there are more who can help out.

It is our hope that more will take the step from liking us to helping us, from liking Agaptivity to supporting our work for the orphans.

    All matters

Where one contributes with $5 another contributes with $60. Small streams makes big rivers. We know that.

Do not think that it is no point in contributing small. There are no small contributions. All contributions matters - yours too.

Can you consider contributing? Can you consider contributing with 27 cents per day, thus $8 or mroe per month?

    Hand-to-mouth

Today Agaptivity operates hand-to-mouth. All we receive goes directly to the needy. Thus we have no buffer and cannot therefore plan or structure any special efforts. Many times situations have been solved on the very last minute. Of course we're glad for that but it isn't optimal. We wish we could do more, we want to execute our work more efficient.

As said before, there's been many tough situations. Unfortunately they have been out of food - starving that is.... - seven days the last time..... Us being able to fix it is due to the following:
    • Occasional/Stray donations
    • Extra membership contributions (members adding more money)
    • Sponsor money (our first and so far only sponsor contribution saved a severe situation)
    • Efforts from the board of directors

    Minus

Our economy shows minus today. Not debt, minus. E.g our Chairman have, as the founder of Agaptivity, stepped in and having money owed to, despite the challenges that has caused.

These efforts shows that Agaptivity fulfills its purpose, that cannot be questioned.

    The small IS the big

To sum it up and end this post it is obvious that small means makes a big difference. When you decide to make a difference you fulfill the first of Agaptivity's mottos that 'Everybody can make a difference'. We, Agaptivity, fulfill our second motto - 'Charity as it should be'.
    Charity as it should be
    • 100% voluntary
    • No middle hands
    • Minimal expenses

    You ARE the difference

It is you who can be the difference, or rather it IS you who are the difference. We who are on board already makes a difference. Take the step you too and sign up for membership!

We're looking forward to having you on board.

The new website will have to wait.....

The new website is ready for launch. But since we lack means for domain transfer and the cost for the web hotel we will have to postpone.

We're not talking about enormous sums, only about $55 and that is for a whole year. Then we'll only pay only $2 per month for the web hotel. However, since we who are responsible for the operation already are having money owing to it will have to wait. For example, this past Monday we decided to put out some extra money adding to the collected money to send clothes and other things to send to the orphans in Kenya.

Apart from that Agaptivity's chairman is already having money owing to for helping out in crisis's thus stepping in to help out with what matters most - food and sanitary items for the orphans.

As soon as we can we will launch the new website. We're looking forward to it, it will be a real face lift for Agaptivity.

It's a fact that with more members, more donors and sponsors we can cope with surrounding matters like webpages and software aswell as the providing the needy.

We're looking forward in having You on board!

    Successful event!

On an initiative from Caroline Silvaro, Agaptivity's from today appointed Project-Coordinator (see previous post) we, in the City of Orebro Sweden, gathered bottles and cans for deposit and things donated for the Kisumu Kenya orphans.

Even though the influx was rather low, we did invite 307 people, we managed to cash in about 170 dollars. These funds will be used for the cost of shipping clothes, shoes, blankets, sanitary items and some candy :)

We aim to send the things at the end of this week in order to guarantee they will receive the goods well before Christmas.

Since the fall out was so good we will do this again at the beginning of next year. If more people will join the even then, the more we can do for the orphans.

Thank you all who made this possible.

    Kind regards

    Agaptivity welcome Caroline as Project-Coordinator

As a result of a inspiring and active engagement Agaptivity now welcome Caroline Silvaro on board Agaptivity. As the obvious driving force she is Agaptivity has agreed upon that Caroline will work as the organisations Project-Coordinatoor.

As all others involved Caroline to is into working for charity as we believe it should be executed. On our upcoming new homepage we will highligt the following:

    Charity as it should be
    • 100% voluntary
    • No middlehands
    • Minimal expenses

This we do fulfill and with Caroline now on board we are all looking forward to an exciting time for the organisation, its members, its donors but mostly for those this whole thing is concerning - the needy.

Caroline is already appreciated and liked by the orphans in Kisumu Kenya and we are looking forward to an exciting work to come.

    Pneumonia

Due to the current weather in Kenya for some time now, where the effects of El NinĂł actually are real, they are experiencing cold, humid and windy weather. Bad combination.... Since many kids still lack blankets and mattresses some of the kids have got pneumonia. Their center, where they are so happy and grateful to have been able to build up thanks to Agaptivity's members and donors, is unfortunately inferior to the standard of living we are spoiled with in the west.

Thus they once again had to pay a visit to the hospital and once again got in debt. Fortunately we could however solve this, pay the debt and make sure they got the medication needed. The solution is both optimal and not. Optimal in the positive sense because the crisis is no more, optimal in the negative sense because the benefactor has added to a already very burdened personal economy.

They kids sick are recovering but still have no appetite....

How bad all this may sound it is very positive to see that all things are possible and with more members, donors and sponsors we could fix this project easily and raise the bar some more. This means we could make greater improvements and life changing ventures and further on also start more projects and help more people.

    New website in progress!

It is time for Agaptivity to have a new website. The reason is both to make it more appealing to the eye and easier to navigate. Our current website is built from Blogger and thus not the optimal solution for Agaptivity's purpose and focus. The reason we chose Blogger was because that was the tool we had experience working with and therefore the fastest way to get a site up and running.

Now it is time for a more real website.

As always Agaptivity aims at avoidning costs why we this time also use free tools. The only costs Agaptivity have is for the two domain names for the Swedish and English sites.

Here's a clipping from the start up page:

(The banners in English are: 'Membership', 'Donate', 'Our projects' and 'The voice of the children'. To the right of the picture/gallery it says: 'Charity as it should be', '-100% voluntary', '-No middlehands' and 'Non existent expenses'.)

Clothes soon to be sent to Kenya

Since spring this year Agaptivity have been collecting some clothes. Little by little. However it has not been that much worth sending and also there's been no funding for the shipment fee.

But then there are those people you just have to admire, admire for their energy and initiative!

About two-three weeks ago Agaptivity got help from Caroline Silvaro who gathered more clothes. Caroline also managed to collect almost 174 dollars to cover the cost for shipment.

Agaptivity and the orphans thanks Caroline for her initiative and for giving energy for further creativity and strength for continuing the important work.

In about two weeks Caroline together with Ted Sjovall will be back with yet another initiative, Caroline's idea, for getting money.

Agaptivity welcomes more people helping out like this. All are welcome contributing in any way possible.

    Update. Plus and Minus.

Hi! Apologies from Agapivity for not having updated for a few days.

    PLUS:
    Awino's back from the hospital.
    We recieved a donation.
Wycliffe could pay off part of the debt to the hospital.
Awino could get some of the medicine she needs.

    MINUS:
Debt to the hospital still remaining.
    Wycliffe at risk being arrested.
    Awino need more medicine.
    The food is out again.

Those following us know that Awino got back home again from the hospital. She's now back with her people, the orphans at the center.

The hospital debt is still there but to a lesser amount. Fortunately we received about 76 dollars why we could (after transfer fees) transfer about 66 dollars. Wycliffe used 61 dollars for paying off part of the debt and the rest for medicine to Awino.

Wycliffe managed to get at deal with the hospital management on diving the debt to three parts, tomorrow Tuesday and this coming Friday are paydays. If the debt is not payed Wycliffe is at risk being arrested.

Thus we still need 110 dollars for the debt and another 55 dollars for the medicine that Awino really needs.

So little can do so much for them. So little is nothing for us. If we do this together we can solve this just like that.

Let us make a difference. You can make a difference.

    Urgent. Medicine and food. Now.

    This is the situation:

Awino is back home from the hospital. Awino needs medication. The meds cost about 60 dollar. The medicine is strong and can't be taken on an empty stomach. Now, that is a problem....

They - everyone - have been without food for three days. Tomorrow will be day number four. Food for three days, including sanitary items, is about 60 dollars too.

    Can you help out?

Can you help out contributing so we get the 120 dollar?

    Contribute this way:
    • Citizens of Europe - EU/ESS/Schweiz can pay via IBAN and SWIFT
      IBAN: SE12 8000 0845 2594 4336 0970

Awino is liberated but the situation is urgent

The hospital management finally came to their senses and let Awino home. Their has now been many tears of joy among the orphans and Wycliffe and his family.

Yes, this is really joy for them despite the fact they have yet again been without food for two days. Could we ever express such a joy.....? Being so overwhelmed having their friend out - well, they are like a big family rather - that they don't concentrate on the hunger.

However, the hunger is there and the situation is urgent. They lack food and have debts to the hospital and for medicines and there's need for medication too.

NOTE! WYCLIFFE GOT A DEADLINE TILL FRIDAY TO PAY THE DEBT. THE RISK IS THAT HE COULD BE ARRESTED. THE DEBT IS ABOUT $170. A FORTUNE FOR THEM.  BUT TOGETHER WE COULD SOLVE IT JUST LIKE THAT! LET US TAKE CARE OF IT.

They need help. Can you help out? I belive you can.

You can make a difference - make a difference.

Sign up for membership or donate.

As always the money goes straight to them. There are no middle-hands. All work at Agaptivity is 100% voluntary.

Agaptivity and the orphans hope for your aid, hope in you.

Awino wants out from her imprisonment at the hospital

Read this and be touched. Got this from Wycliffe today:

Uncle, today i have been in the hospital from 10am then the child Awino asked me somthing that left me so emotional. She asked me "Baba, Can Uncle Ted help me get out of this bed so that even if we will not be eating at the center i will be home? have you talked to Uncle? what is he saying?....baba,today i am tired of this hospital and miss my brothers and sisters". i told her(Awino) that dont worry, you are soon going to be out here....then she smiled and said i hope tomorrow if not today.
Uncle, This message is like a huge load that i had to pass to you. Lets pray that God in Heaven will hear our cries and wipe tears of this precious child. God bless you. Here it is 8pm and is when am back...my wife now is going to be with her from 9pm till tomorrow morning when we shall exchange swifts. Bye. Agape love!
See previous posts for more info on Awinos situation and the orphans situation in general. Their situation is complicated to say the least.

    Orphan imprisoned at the hospital!

I am dismayed. Dismayed and deeply concerned. Dismayed and concerned for being powerless over the state of things.

In previous posts I've informed about 11 year old Awino ending up in coma, hospitalized after being hit by a motorcycle. Awino is now out of the coma and well enough to get back home. So far so good...

However - Awino is not allowed to get home. She will not be released until the hospital bill is payed! The bill is getting bigger by the day!! This clearly violates human rights. She's only 11 years old....poor girl....

This is insane and evil. She's stuck there, locked up. Crazy in itself. But also consider the risks! TB, cholera, skin infections etc....

The cost is getting bigger by the day.....

Imagine how Awino is feeling right now?! Imagine how the other orphans is feeling?! Imagine how Wycliffe's doing.....?! There's many tears being shed these days.....

    So, what's needed?

The total debt to the hospital is right now: $217 (22,858 Kenyan shilling)

    >>>The debt is increasing with $24 per day!!!
Debts for medication: $74 (7,800 Kenyan shilling)

Thus, we have a total debt of $291. Tomorrow we have to add another $24

The debt equals food and sanitary items for them all, 72 individuals, for 14 days!!!
The debt increase is food and sanitary items for yet another day....

And that is were we are too. They are without food. The small amount sent Friday was enough for two days.....

What can you do? Can you do something? Well, even the smallest of amounts will help, it will make a difference. You can make a difference.

Join and liberate 11 year old Awino from her imprisonment. Let her be among the kids and Wycliffe again and shed tears of joy instead of weeping at the hospital. You can make all this possible.

Helo them. Become a member or donate money.

W - Awino is still in hospital till we pay the bill which the facility need...she is inprisoned and also in pain and more dangerous she can attract other diseases like TB,neamonia, cholera and skin inffections this worries me so much...we had discharge note 3 days ago,she keep on crying even today asking me when she will get out of hospital with bandages on her neck and hands.
T - That is really crazy! Evil. You did pay afterwards before, right? That shouldn't be a problem now.... This violates the human rights by UN! Go viral with it!
T - What if we never are to get money?! Will she stay there till she gets old?
W - That is what should happen...after paying all bills,we go home.
T - Contact that governmental person you know.
W - He is in London for UN meeting if we will not get the money i will plead with him but i dont know when they will be back. But if we get money sooner the better Awino will be out of hospital
T - OK.... This is stressful. Let me go ahead and make some posts. Pray it will affect people! Talk to you later! Shalom!
W - May God bless you.
T - Wycliffe: Please update me! What are the costs/debts now?Hospital bill?  Is there any debts for medicine? Is the bill getting higher by the day or?
W - Total cost now which includes bed and treatment:22,858 Kshs. We had dept also of medicines at the local chemistry here totaling 7800 Kshs. This bill is getting higher daily by day as days change
T - OK. What amount per day is the cost going up?
W - The figure i have given you is as for today. It goes high daily by day at 2,500 Kshs.
T - 2,500 per day?! Really? All this money could be for food instead...
W - Yes...this can be of food for other orphans...instead
    T - 2,500 up per day? Yes?
    W - Yes
    T - Shit!
T - OK, thanks. I will add the numbers...
W - This has been stress for me more and even heartbreaking.

    Day 5 without food.....

Today it's their fifth day without food....

The fifth day. 5 days without food....

We in the west jump on different diets, fasting and so on just to get in shape to look good and so on. How different things are! There are those who are unable to even imagine something like that. Being without food is everyday life for some.

You can chose to be on a diet or not. They can't chose that. You can chose to help.

Yesterday Agaptivity received about 24 dollars, that money will be sent tonight. This will however only be enough for one day....

It doesn't have to be like this. With very small fundings each of us can - together - make real difference.

    Join and make a difference.

    (Wycliffe's words down below.)

Agaptivity and the orphans hope for you aid.

When was the last time you were without food for three days?

When was the last time you were without food for three days, or more.....?

NO, I am not talking about fasting or being on one a 5:2 diet etc. I'm talking about you having no food at all. I'm talking about agonizing hunger, I'm talking about starvation.

We hardly starve now, do we?

We don't have to. There are those who do, those who cannot chose. We can chose. We can also chose to help. As little as about $20 is enough for one day - for 72 people!

So, can you make a difference here?

    Of course you can.

    Will you?

That is your choice. I hope you will, Agaptivity hope you will and the orphans in Kisumu hope you will.

You will find all info on how to help on this webpage.
